Archives Orientation Guide
The New School Archives and Special Collections is part of the university’s Libraries, Collections & Academic Services unit.
Collection Portals
There are three discovery pathways into our collections.
1. Finding Aids
Our finding aids database contains descriptions of archival collections. Finding aids also provide contextual information, such as biographies and administrative histories.
2. Digital Collections
Our Digital Collections provide direct, item-level access to digital content. The items contained in this database are from the same collections described in the finding aids.
3. Library Catalog
The library catalog provides access to information about published resources, such as rare books, and periodicals, in our collection. Read more about our Special Collections.
Contact Us
Contact Archives and Special Collections staff for assistance researching your topic, either here at The New School, or for more information on locating archival materials or rare books, generally: archivist@newschool.edu
